Founded in 2011 as the Associazione Giovani Avvocati Marocchini in Italia, AGAMI is today a multidisciplinary network of jurists and professionals engaged in research, training and legal, judicial and institutional cooperation between Italy, Morocco, Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean.

The origins
Its history begins with an idea put forward in Rabat in 2010 and develops, over more than fifteen years, through initiatives in comparative law, legal training for the Bar, judicial cooperation, institutional dialogue, universities, economic relations and international mobility.
In 2010 Kaoutar Badrane, then a law graduate and trainee lawyer, travelled from Italy to take part in an international meeting in Rabat devoted to Moroccan expertise living abroad. There, as a jurist coming from Italy, she put forward the proposal to create an international network of jurists and lawyers of Moroccan origin active in their respective countries of residence.

In 2011 the idea formulated in Rabat took shape in Italy with the establishment of AGAMI, the first association of lawyers of Moroccan origin set up on Italian soil. On 24 October 2011 the Conseil de la communauté marocaine à l'étranger (CCME) relayed in its press review the news of the birth of the first association of young Moroccan lawyers in Italy, expressly naming Badrane Kaoutar.

AGAMI brings together lawyers, academics, professionals, researchers and experts engaged in legal dialogue and cooperation between Italy, Morocco, Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean. The Governance ensures the direction of the organisation; the International Scientific Committee guides its research and contributes to the quality of its programmes and activities.
The association's bodies ensure the representation, direction and transparent management of AGAMI APS.

2017
The international conference in Bassano del Grappa gave rise to the Italian–Moroccan Study Commission on family law.
2022
Italian–Moroccan judicial cooperation entered legal-profession training through a session devoted to bilateral agreements and to the operational instruments linking the two legal systems.
2024–2026
From the discussion of the Mattei Plan at the Rome Bar Association to economic delegations and MEDIEDIL, AGAMI extends its model of connection from law to institutional and economic cooperation.
International cooperation
AGAMI promotes dialogue between legal systems through comparative law, judicial cooperation, legal-profession training and exchange among judges, lawyers and jurists.
The network connects institutions, universities, professionals and civil society to build cooperation between Italy and Morocco and, progressively, between Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean.
The connecting experience built up over the years is applied to economic relations too, through chambers of commerce, delegations, missions, partnerships and business matching.
AGAMI develops legal and intercultural training, awareness of rights and duties, and new instruments to support regular international mobility.

AGAMI is the first Italian center born from direct experience of legal dialogue between Italy and Morocco and devoted to the study of relations between Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean, with particular attention to transnational families: it is this origin, grounded in practice rather than theory, that makes it different.

AGAMI Manifesto

The first woman of Moroccan origin to graduate in Law in Italy, according to the account published by the University of Trento. In 2010, still a trainee lawyer, she travelled from Italy to the international meeting in Rabat and proposed the creation of an international network of jurists and lawyers. In 2011 she gave effect to that proposal by founding AGAMI.
Since then she has developed activities in comparative law and legal, judicial and institutional cooperation between Italy and Morocco, progressively extended to the Mediterranean, to Africa and to the European dimension.
